Tregoyd Mountain Riders

Horse Riding, Pony Trekking, Hacking and Trail Riding for all the family, in the superb riding country of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National park. Riding Lessons are also available with BHS qualified instructors.

Tregoyd Mountain Riders has been providing riding holidays for many years, and we cater for experienced riders, those with some experience/ability as well as novices. We have a range of mounts from quiet cob ponies to more forward going horses. Our horses and ponies are carefully chosen for their reliable temperament and good manners, and our riding escorts are friendly and experienced. Visitors require no previous experience to enjoy riding in this beautiful part of Wales, and those new to riding will find a good sensible mount, expert advice and tuition both in the paddock and during the ride. Our instructors and guides, have BHS and/or WTRA qualifications, and will lead your ride, using their knowledge of the area to provide a varied and enjoyable ride at a pace to suit your ability.  Our rides start at our office at 9.30am for Day and Half Day morning rides, and 1.30pm for afternoon rides.  Hour rides and lessons times on request.
Riders should wear suitable clothing, jodhpurs, jeans (preferably loose fitting), or walking type trousers, (not shorts), riding boots if available, wellingtons or strong shoes with a small heel.  We have ‘toe-stoppers’ available, and can allow the use of well fitted trainers. No flip flops or ‘crocs’.

Riding hats are available for use at no extra cost.
Lunch is provided as part of our full day rides and hacks, and are either a pub lunch or a picnic lunch.
The Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, are well established as one of the most popular riding areas in Wales. The varied and rugged scenery, open commons and sheltered forest bridle paths are familiar to riders from all over Great Britain and Europe. Like much of Central Wales, they are ideal riding country. Old drovers’ tracks and paths lead along the steep sided valleys, whilst commons and flat topped ridges provide for those who enjoy the occasional canter or gallop.

We are licensed by Powys County Council, approved by the British Horse Society, the Wales Trekking and Riding Association, the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority and Visit Wales.

Please contact us with your requirements, so that we can organise the right ride for you.
